The Mid-Autumn Festival is an official holiday in China, South Korea and Taiwan. However, other countries across Southeast Asia like Japan, Singapore and Vietnam also celebrate the festival.

Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated during the Chinese lunar calendar on the 15th day of the 8th month, during which the moon is known to be the fullest and the brightest of all year. This means it will fall on a day between 8th September and 7th October in the Gregorian calendar.

As part of the festival, mooncakes are traditionally given as gifts to friends and family at this time and eaten together after dinner.
