Lee Kum Kee is a Hong Kong-based food company which specializes in manufacturing a wide range of Chinese and Asian sauces. Lee Kum Kee was founded in 1888 by a chef at a cooked oyster shop in Guangdong village near Shenzhen. The story goes that after leaving a barrel of oysters to ferment, he discovered they created a delicious rich brown liquid, which is the origin of modern oyster and XO sauce. Lee Kum Kee now produces more than 200 Chinese-style sauces, including oyster sauce, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, XO sauce, and chilli sauce. Lee Kum Kee's Panda Brand Oyster Flavoured Sauce is a slightly milder oyster sauce, but with all the same qualities you'd expect from Lee Kum Kee's Premium Oyster Sauce. The Panda Brand Oyster Sauce still brings out the "Xian Wei", or Umami, in dishes and elevate the taste of the ingredients it is prepared with. Its milder flavour means you can use this sauce a little more freely. Its salty flavor, and velvet texture, adds a deep brown colour to stir-fry noodles and vegetables. Try it as a marinade for broccoli, rapini, brussel sprouts, or bok choy.
